The Story Behind the Wood
What is Cachichira wood ?
Cachichira is a rare hardwood found deep within the Amazonian rainforests of Bolivia and Brazil. Known for its exceptional strength, natural resistance, and beautiful grain patterns, Cachichira wood has been revered for centuries for its durability and timeless character.
Every slab is marked by decades of growth, untouched wilderness, and the rich textures of nature itself.

How it all started
Chad Morton, founder of Rancho Madera, has been traveling to Bolivia yearly since 2005. Drawn to the beauty and size of the Bolivian hardwood — Cachichira — he spent years admiring its potential. When the time came to build his own home, he made the bold move to ship wood from the Bolivian Amazon to the U.S. It was slow, complex, and expensive, but the result spoke for itself. As friends, designers, and builders began asking where they could find the same wood, the idea for Rancho Madera took shape.
In 2023, Chad partnered with two friends from Bolivia to turn that idea into reality. Jorge, a longtime friend, introduced him to Oscar, a skilled craftsman and wood expert. Together, they launched Rancho Madera with one goal: to bring these rare and remarkable pieces into homes and projects across the U.S.

Today, those same woods, once hidden deep in the Amazon, are available to shop right here in Texas.
We partner with local experts to source Cachichira trees responsibly and sustainably, selecting only those that have reached the end of their life cycle. The logs are then cut into slabs or custom shapes in a workshop near the forest edge. They then make their way to our main workshop in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, where they are meticulously crafted, shaped, and finished by hand.
Each finished piece is then shipped across the continent and arrives in Texas — ready to become part of extraordinary homes, restaurants, and spaces that value legacy over mass production.
About our jungle
Spanning over 6 million square kilometers and crossing nine countries, it shelters the greatest diversity of life on the planet. Home to more than 16,000 species of trees and over 390 billion individual trees, its vast canopy cradles ecosystems that have remained untouched for centuries.
Carmen Soledad Community
In the heart of the jungle, the Carmen Soledad community works alongside us , creating a partnership rooted in purpose. Each harvest season, we create jobs that support their families and strengthen their local economy. From identifying trees to helping in the workshop, their knowledge and hands are essential to every piece we craft.
Together, we preserve tradition, share opportunity, and build something lasting.
Our Team
Beyond the harvest season and the work we share with Amazonian communities, our craft continues with a dedicated team that brings each piece to life. In Santa Cruz, Bolivia, our 20,000 square foot workshop is home to a team of seven skilled craftsmen who carefully shape, sand, and finish every table by hand — honoring the wood with patience and precision.
Across the ocean, our U.S. team of four works year-round to share these creations, bringing the story and soul of each piece into homes across the country.

We are privileged to work with one of the most magnificent ecosystems on Earth, The Amazonian Rainforest.
A vast, living world that gives life to thousands of plant and animal species, and to the incredible trees that make our craft possible.
Among them, Cachichira trees stand as towering guardians of the forest. Each tree is carefully selected through sustainable practices, never taken in excess, only harvested when their natural cycle nears its end, or when they begin to hollow from within.
These trees, shaped by time and nature, are what give our tables their extraordinary character, raw edges, deep textures, and organic forms that could never be replicated.
No two are ever alike, and each one tells the quiet story of a forest that still breathes.
